Accessible Mental Health Support by Local Faces

Accessible Support
No cost and no strings attached - our services are available to anyone in our community who isn’t on an existing mental health plan.

Confidentiality Guaranteed
We know that your privacy and trust are the most important things when navigating mental health challenges. Members of the Fraser Coast Mates committee do not have access to names of participants undertaking counselling and your information is kept with the highest levels of confidentiality.

Experienced Counsellors
We work with local mental health providers at Trauma Assist and Mike Radic Counselling to provide a safe and supportive space to talk.

Tailored Help
Whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges or just need a helping hand, counselling services will be of great benefit to you.

Why we do what we do
Formed after the loss of a dear friend and prominent figure in the Fraser Coast community, Fraser Coast Mates understands that mental health challenges don’t discriminate and neither do we. We’re here to break down barriers to care, foster hope, celebrate mateship and build a stronger, more connected community.
What we see, and what we don't
We know that in a community our size, privacy is often the thing that stops people picking up the phone. So we want to be clear about how our counselling service is offered.
Fraser Coast Mates pays for counselling sessions through money raised in the community. We don’t deliver them, and we’re not part of them. Your counsellor is bound by their own professional confidentiality obligations, the same as any other counselling you’d access.
No one on the Fraser Coast Mates committee or working group sees who has attended, what was discussed, or what came of it. The only information we receive is the total number of sessions used, so we can report back to the people who fund this and keep it running.
You don’t need to tell us anything or explain yourself to us, you just need to reach out.
